Personal Design Service

How does the design service work?

Free of charge if you proceed with order, or furniture item.
The first step is to have a chat over the phone, this will give an idea as to what you are looking for and how we can help.We can also give an estimate of costs on some items to give you an idea. We can set up an appointment for you to meet Mark Wakeling at the workshop, showroom or his office. Or we can arrange for Mark Wakeling to come to a home visit.

Home visit

This usually lasts one to two hours and Mark Wakeling can see first hand what your requirements are, give design ideas, make a few sketches and show you some photos. Utilising digital photography of your home, we transfer to a laptop computer to see floor plans and work through colour and furniture concepts for your future home. All the key areas of design, presentation, fabrics, styles, colour, product and pieces are coordinated.

Drawings and quotes

After you are comfortable with the concepts we supply detailed drawings and quotes, if you do not wish to go ahead the standard hourly design fee applies. If you go ahead with the order our design is included in the quote. Your service is then free of charge if you proceed with the order.

Custom made furniture

So often a home needs something especially designed to fit the space, the needs, and to create a special feeling in the room. Sometimes a piece of furniture needs to be made to match an existing piece. Also knowing that something fits exactly your needs and wishes, that it has been fully personalised, is a great feeling. Your service is then free of charge if you proceed with the order.

For this reason, we are pleased to be able to offer all our clients a unique service.

Our In-house decorator and designer, Mark Wakeling, is available to assist you with your decision to purchase products from our range or to design an individual piece for you. Mark has 30 years experience in the furniture design and manufacturing business and has a wonderful eye for style, form, fabrics and colour as you can see from his awards and examples of his work on our website.

Mark likes to speak with you in order to be absolutely certain that we provide all the necessary information in order for you to be truly comfortable with your decision, making certain that we are all making the right choices to enhance your home and are totally satisfied with the end result.  In turn, we are motivated by these results and not just the sale.

It is often difficult and quite impersonal to convey information of this nature in an email and words can often be misinterpreted.  It is much easier to discuss beauty, function and structural style on a one-on-one basis. As the pieces are custom made, there are also various things that may influence pricing of the products and Mark can discuss these things and possible cost savings with you during a phone call.
